ALWAYS WAS, ALWAYS WILL BE

Pibulman and Minang Country

Acknowledgement of Country

We acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the land on which we learn and play, the Bibbulmun and Minang people of the Noongar nation. We pay respect to their Elders past, present and emerging. We acknowledge and respect their continuing culture and the contribution they make to our school, community and region.

Reconciliation Action Plan

We have a registered Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) that outlines the concrete steps our school is taking towards reconciliation. You can read more about our goals in the linked plan below. We always welcome new parents to join our RAP committee to help progress our goals.

Weekly Noongar language sessions

We are delighted to offer Noongar language and culture to all students as our mandated Language Other Than English class each week. Our dedicated program is enriched with visits from local Noongar Elders and teachers, and Language is also integrated across the school week by all teachers.

Teaching the six seasons

Our school’s focus on the environment and the seasonal changes that occur around us is very much informed and based on the traditional knowledge that has been passed on by the Pibulman and Minang custodians of this land.

The children are taught about the six Noongar seasons and our factional groups in the school are based on the Noongar season in which each child was born.

Children learn while immersed in their environment what specific changes occur in nature with each season and how this relates to the abundance of food available at each time of the year and the seasonal movements of people across Country in response to this. They learn about the bush tucker that is available in our environment at the different times of year.
